For those people still having an issue with auto-sleep, just disable your network adapter and see if the computer sleeps. Notification Network Icon-right click-Open Network and Sharing Center-Connections Ethernet-disable. Set sleep for one minute and wait 5 minutes to see if the computer goes to sleep. Re-enable by clicking of the Ethernet connection again which should automatically enable it. I have a sneaking suspicion that MS in Win8.1 turns on HOMEGROUP sharing by default (possibly in the Start screen/Metro which I NEVER look at) when they automatically allow sharing of public documents. If it conflicts with a currently installed HOMEGROUP (possibly with a mix of Win7 and Win8 machines), it continuously tries to sync up via the network, preventing sleep.
