Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Microsoft(R) Windows 95 (C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1981-1996. I had a Debian linux box that I could ping a site with but I couldn't do a tracert (traceroute in *nix speak) to it.

Pathping Output

The PathPing tool is a route tracing tool that combines features of Ping and Tracert. Checks to see if each router in the path supports the Resource. Perhaps the most useful tool for isolating connectivity problems from the client, PathPing (PathPing.exe) can help diagnose problems with name resolution. Ping returns “ip no resources. What does the ip no resources bit mean? Any clues as to what it means for the connectivity issues? Windows-7 ping windows-command.

Well, I could if I first pinged then tracert'd to the same site. People mentioned 'raw' sockets, ICMP vs UDP, and other things. With a BSD-based tracert, you can tell tracert to use the 'other' socket-type as an option. That solved my problem. I tried 'pingpath /?' And saw nothing useful. I'm behind a pretty locked-down firewall (hardware, not software) here at work.

We can only http(s) out, ftp, ping, and tracert, I believe. Not sure how mail is handled. Anyway, I was able to use 'pingpath' though the 'Calculating.' Part took a really long time. Said by: I'm behind a 5667 SecureRoute Router/ADSL Modem right now and it's unpingable by default unlike my 5660 Router that I can toggle it's pingability status. I don't know it that is a factor or not?? *Snipp'd for brevity* My Router is non pingable as well, so it shouldn't be an issue.

This is a common error however if you have McAfee Antivirus. I have NO idea why McAfee Breaks Pathping, but I had to stop it for some reason, and my pathping batchfile suddenly started working correctly. Restarted McAfee, it worked. Also try the common tricks too NBTSTAT -RR IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS Check your ARP table, etc.
